ABOUT ME

Find CV below.

Some of my earliest memories are waking up in the morning, going to the living room, picking a CD for the day, and playing it on the CD player. I listened to everything from Tom Petty and Norah Jones to Handel and Bach. We had a big blue box set of classical music, so I would pick a composer -at the time not based on their music but their wig on the cover of the CD- and mime conducting the orchestra while listening. I was then introduced to the piano, which undoubtedly changed my life. I gave my first concert when I was six, I practiced for exams and learned the theory behind music.

While all this was happening, I was also very much interested in technology, mainly because I grew up with a couple of electronics and communications engineers - my parents. I wrote my name on the computer before I did with crayons. I loved using a keyboard, regardless of whether it was connected to a computer or hammers and strings.

Time passed and I got into the part-time conservatory. It was clear to me early on that although I wanted to finish my conservatory training, and although my passion for music was still there, I wouldn’t enjoy it as a career. It was around that time when I was introduced to the concept of sound engineering and music technology, where I could combine my passion for music with my passion for technology. I was lucky to have a chance of interning at Metan Teknik, the Turkish distributor of Sennheiser, where I first experienced the wonderful world of live sound engineering. After multiple concerts with them around Turkey, and a few visits to recording studios, I could see my future as a sound engineer, as clear as day.

Now, at the University of Salford, my passion for sound engineering is growing every day. I am certainly at the very beginning of a long journey of failing, learning, and eventually succeeding, but I am prepared and excited to face any challenge coming my way, because I know I will always have that love and passion for sound.
